From 7th to 28th July, the spectacular Lago d’Orta will host the 18th edition of the Orta Festival
Not only a cultural event putting a spotlight upon a charming territory, but an international stage whose distinctive feature is the promotion of talent the support of young musicians.
Keeping the standards high and enriching its programme: this is the objective of the 18th Orta Festival, which will include 9 concerts offering music ranging from Baroque to Contemporary repertoire with ensembles going from the soloist to the big orchestra. There will be 4 monographic concerts: the first one devoted to Gustav Mahler with the performance of his first Symphony, “Der Titan”, in the version for 15 instruments written by the young British composer Iain Farrington (a “first” for the Italian audience!).
After that, a due homage to Claudio Monteverdi, on the occasion of his 450th birthday: the so-called “Contrafacta” madrigals will be performed by the celebrated Collegium vocale et instrumentale “Nova Ars Cantandi” conducted by Giovanni Acciai, one of the world’s best known vocal ensembles for this repertoire.
Another unmissable event is the concert traditionally devoted to Bach’s music feat. the great guitarist Emanuele Segre.
Finally, an all-Chopin recital feat. the young Italian star Alessandro Taverna. The festival will also boast the presence of the great Serbian pianist Aleksandar Madžar, renowned for his delicacy and innocence combined with his impeccable interpretation of each score.
Part of the programme is a cross-over concert by two very popular musicians: saxophonist Mario Marzi and accordionist Simone Zanchini. A special event worth highlighting is the one featuring the Canino-Ballista piano duo, this year celebrating 60 years of continuous activity.
Great string ensembles will feature in the festival’s final concerts, starting with the Zaïde quartet, a true revelation in France, who will flank Raffaella Damaschi in the unusual performance of a Kammerkonzert by Mozart (a piano concerto in the original version with string quartet), followed by the magnificent cello of Enrico Bronzi leading a sextet made up of friends for a magical closing concert feat. amazing music by Bach, Strauss and Brahms on the beautiful San Giulio Island.
This year again, FAZIOLI will be technical partner of the festival.
